I have had my clown now for about 5-6 days, but she is not eating she comes out at night when the lights go out. could she be eating the worms and such off the live rock????

Possibly she could be grazing off the live rock. My maroon clown is a little piggy and eats everything.

What are you feeding yours? Have you asked the LFS you bought them from what they were feeding them?

Personally I feed mine mainly brineshrimp. Every couple of days I give her a treat of Mysis, Krill, Chopped octopus, Prawns or chopped raw fish.

My maroon clown is also the only fish in the tank who will eat the frozen pellet food.

well they feed her frozen brine shrimp but she will not eat that right now. i also have some forula 2 marine pellet that i tried she wont eat them too not sure why.

Try also to feed a wider variety of frozen foods. I find that Clownfish tend to be very picky when first aquired. Remember too that they are plantonivores and there food should be suspended and small enough to easily fit in the animal's mouth.

Also, If I were you I wouldn't feed much brine shrimp. They are very low in nutritional value, and fish are still capable of starving to death even if they are eating them.

When I first brought home my two clowns, they were not interested in anything I was offering. I believe it was about one week, to a week and a half before I saw them really eat. I just kept offering a wide variety of food. I did get First Flakes (I can't remember who makes them). They have garlic in them, and are suppose to encourage new or sick fish to eat. I'm not sure if it was just a coincedence, but these were the first food my clowns ate. Mine also go nuts for frozen mysis.

Have you access to Live Brine Shrimp? This might get her interested. As others have stated, sometimes you have to be patient, and give them time to adapt to your tank. If it was wild caught, she might take a little longer to take prepared foods. Once mine eat something, with time, effort, and patience you can get them to munch on anything they think tastes good. :good:

Sianeds, as Lynden pointed out, Brine Shrimp is pretty poor in nutritional value. Id suggest your Krill, Mysis, Shrimp, Octopus and fish flesh would be better staples, and Brine your "treat". :good:

I give mysis and brine mainly with octopus and prawn once ish a week each. This is mainly because my other fish don't eat octopus or prawns but love the mysis and brine. But....on your advice I'll see if I can hand feed Chico with some more "meaty" foods :good:

have you tried lacing it with garlic? its supposed to increase their apetite....but it makes their breath stink :hyper:

I have some marine pelets that i bought that have garlic on them i will try to see if she will try it. she wouldn't a couple of days ago. will keep trying thanks for all the info. crappy thing is i live 3 hours from anything with salt water lol.
