Hey guys! :D
Some of you may remember me from my post a few weeks ago, freaking out that my shark had gone about nuts! Anyways, he's over that (damn straight he is)...but now seems to be fading in color. His tail is not BRIGHT red anymore, but more of a peachy color and is not even.

If any of you guys know what this is, please feel free to let me know. Many thanks guys

Amanda

I'm thinking its a red tail black shark, it's probably scared or getting picked on, not enough food maybe, or water conditions are not good.

sounds like he is stressed.check water parameters and make sure he isnt being bullied and also look for any other signs of disease :)

Also what is the size of the tank.

He is a 95 Litre tank along with 4 bristlenoses and 3 angel fish. he is definatley not bullied on as he minds his own business...if anything, he bullies the angels. He is still quite young (maybe 4 months old). However, a few days ago his tail was bright red.

Thanks heaps for your quick replies! :good:

rtbs should be the bully. My rainbow shark which is much like the rtbs usually feeds on bottom and off of plants that some food lands on. If you only feeding some flake food, try to buy and drop in some sinking wafers for tropical fish. They also love to eat algae wafers as this is also a recomending part of their diet and should have some once a week.

also ensure that he has a well hidden cave to hide in during the day. put a few caves or bogwood tunnels and he will make one of them his home. They are a territorial fish once their home has been established. At least this is true in experience of keeping them.

As long as the angels stay as bigger than him everything should be fine but make sure you have a cave or some sort of overhang for each of the plecos and rtbs and if you don't they will might fight over the ones you have. Not sure if you're a little overstocked though.

Thanks guys for the information!
I called the pet store and they have no idea what they are talking about.
Anyways, my shark is not in my tank as yet as I moved him into my tank (and had nothing in there) and he went a little nuts, so put him back into my brothers tank with the angels.

What kind of fish would go well with the temperament of a shark?
Once again guys,
thanks a bunch!

any fast swimming fish do well. As they love chasing fish around the tank. They also love thick planted areas in tank to swim through and play in. This also helps to keep them occupied from chasing other fish.

Hes probably stressed, with my rtbs whenever I turn out the light he loses some of his color but when I turn the lights back on he regains his color in seconds. Just try to make the water conditions to his liking and he'll be fine.
