Hi Folks

I have recently purchsased a second hand Ehim tank from my LFS. The tank I got was their marine show tank, 4'4" by 2' by 2'.
I have given it a good scrub and clean out, cycled the tank and got my fish in. The current bulbs in the tank are marine spec, two daylight tubes and two UV blue bulbs.

Should I look to change these bulbs as they are very bright and causeing growth in algee (which the plec is gobbling up) or will these bulbs be fine.
Cheers for your thoughts

its the blue blubs that is causing the algae. you dont really need to change it but i would add a floating plant to give the oscar a shaded area

Problem there is Oscar will eat the plant or rip it to shreads. Think I'm just going to swap out all 4 tubes and add some moonlights

do you have to have all 4 tues on at the same time if not then have the blues come on in the morning and at night then the whites running during the day.

you will also want to cut your photo period down, less light = less alge
