So I'm an idiot and I have realised the last time I bought food I picked up the jar of marine NLS flakes instead of the freshwater ones. I have probably been feeding them to my fish for about 3-4 weeks!

They've been eating it and they all seem ok (I lost a plat ya couple of weeks ago but I don't ink it was anything out of the ordinary) and I was just wondering could I have done them any harm and will it hurt them to keep eating them? I don't have an old jar of freshwater flakes to compare the ingredients.

I figure if it's safe for them they may as well use them up, but I wanted to check first! I mainly have NW cichlids.

I would say not to feed them on marine flakes. Keeping in mind they eat different things in the sea.

So I went to the store and compared the jars and the ingredients and percentages are identical!

I can't answer your initial question definitely, but like techen I would have assumed the two types of foods are different according to the respective fish's nutritional requirements.  If the ingredients are identical, that seems to put paid to it, but I have difficulty thinking they are interchangeable.  There are undoubtedly members here with more knowledge of this that can enlighten us...I hope.
