Hi, You have probably heard of the biorb, its is an 30 litre 8 gallon aquarium that is shaped like a globe..... well anyway I have found this site that suggests that you can set this up as a marine system?? I thought this would be impossible becasue of the smaller size......anyway here is the link

http://www.urmstonaquatics.com/marinesetups.html

when I emailed them about the Biorb they suggested that I could have 5 small fish or invertibrates as a maximum stocking guide, it just doesnt sound right. However if it is then I would love to do it..... thanks for your help

They may look cool, but would be very impracticle for marines. And I don't mean just due to the size either. And five fish an an 8 gallon is ludicrous. I would avoid these people on that reason alone.

We tried it as an experiment at the shop I work at but only to keep pipe fish. we used a load of live rock ans coral gravel ad did regular water changes using water from the main coral systems. this worked for a while but to get to the filters, you need to get all the rock out so it wasn't practical. I know of a couple of other people who are trying it one with 2 shrimps and a royal gramma. things seem to be going well but they do loses the odd shrimp here and there. I would say leave it alone and if you want a marine tank then do it properly first time. I have visited that shop and they do ok with freshwater fish but I don't think the marines are as good as some of the other shops around.

hi all,
I would really like to try out the marine bi-Orb but only have 2or 3 fish in it i know a few said it was impractical but was wondering if any one had some tips? thanks danni x

you can't really keep any fish in an 8 gallon marine tank...

inverts - maybe - but not fish.

The only reason our 35gal bedroom tank isn't marine is due to the low stocking levels... we're waiting until we get a BIG tank before we start marine.

I dont really know much about nanos but i would say that inverts are ok. If you were insisting on a fish then perhaps a small goby? Neon or clown/yellow goby but nothing more.
