I have got a 135 litre tank, not sure on how deep it is, but it's 87cm tall.

Could you please tell me 1 how big my angelfish will get and second is it ok to keep in my tank?

Thanks very much

Matt

87cm is almost 3ft so if this is correct then the height is great for an angel.

what is the width of the tank? i wouldnt keep adult angels in anything less than 3ft unless it was a pair that got on or a single fish.

Oh no sorry I got my measurements wrong lol. Sorry it's only 40cm tall and 87cm wide. Is this too small for one?

If not could you please let me know what schooling fish will go well with it. Nice brightly coloured ones if possible. I also have a bumblebee catfish in it as well.

It's on it's own as well

40 cm might be pushing it for an adult but will be fine for a juvi. adult angels get very tall and require room to move about the tank up and down as well as side to side without being cramped.

adult angels can get to 5-6 inches nose to mouth and 6-7 inches top to bottom depending on their environment and conditions etc hence the reason to need a taller tank.

for dithers pretty much anything thats bigger than a neon tetra should be ok. basically anything that will fit into the angels mouth will become a snack. ive kept cardinal tetras with no issues alongside angels but anything smaller would be a risk tbh. it might be safer to go for a fuller bodied dithers if you can only find smaller specimins at lfs.

also when buying dithers i would go for as bigger group the same species as possible. this will make the dithers feel more secure in numbers of their own and will look much more natural and have a greater impact on the tank allowing the dithers to act more naturaly. its very tempting to get say 3x fish from 3 different species to add more colour and variety but 9x same species fish will be much more suitable and look much more impressive too :good:

Thankyou very much for you knowledge. This angel was kept in a 50 litre tank, as soon as I saw it I said it was too small. I got it from a mate that has had him for about 2 years. Will his growth have been stunted. He's about 2-3 inches nose to tail and I suppose 3-4 inches tall. Maybe more towards 4. As soon as we got the fish I was looking for a bigger tank. Got a 135 litre one second hand. Was advertised as a 175 litre one though. So I think I may need to keep on looking.

Thanks again
