I live in Mission Viejo (So Cal) and am looking for marbled hatchetfish. I've called around and can't find any. Has anyone seen any near me, i.e., within 25 miles of Mission Viejo?
Thanks in advance.

Checked eBay and Aquabid.com but no luck. If anyone finds some while visiting their LFS, I'd appreciate a heads up.
Thanks.

PS, want to get "top-swimmers" for my 12 gal Fluval Edge tank

I just went to my closest fish store today and asked if and when they might get in some marbled hatchet fish. The response was, "Never." Go figure . Another said they had them on order but hadn't gotten them in. Maybe there is something going on with the suppliers. Don't know.

Check out the above link I provided...they are known for for their large inventory of MANY fish...looks like hatchets are scarce on the market right now

Slaphappy7,
Having them email me when they get some in.
Thanks for the tip.

Hatchetfish are seasonal because most are wild caught. They turn up for a few months and are then no longer available.

Most shops don't touch them because they aren't big sellers, aren't colourful, can be difficult to feed, and jump out. And they can be expensive.

Wetspot would be the place to monitor, or ask the local shops if you can put down an order for them when they become available.

Thanks everyone. I've got a request into Wetspot and presumed that inquiring about hatchets at LFSs would alert them to the fact that somebody wants them.
If anyone sees them showing up, please post here as that should be an indication that they are back in season.
Thanks again to all.

Wetspot emailed and said they had them. I figured others would also get them now. Found them at my local fish store (DD's in Santa Ana). I speculate that they are seasonal.
