**This is a theoretical question only before anyone starts babbling on about the legalities of importing drugs into the UK**

If one was travelling to the USA soon, would both Maracyn 1 & 2 be the best antibiotics that you could get to keep in the cupboard for any potential fish health issues?

I have and use both of these meds. However, get the following if you can for sure:

Metronidazole and Praziquantel (often found in the same med) great for parasites.
Flubendazole and Levamisole both great for worms and other parasites. These can both be ordered online at http

/www.inkmkr.com/Fish/ You will have to figure out how to pull this off during your trip. Charles Harrison is a great guy and will work with you as long as you pay in advance.

Furan2 and Maracyn Plus are also great in the anti-biotic group. They are broad spectrum antibiotics good for both gram neg. and gram pos. bacteria:

Medicated bio-spheres attach to the fish's skin to form a protective layer that kills infecting bacteria. Controlled, regulated release of antibiotics helps prevent re-infection. Maracyn Plus contains two broad-spectrum antibiotics that are effective against fin and tail rot, popeye, dropsy, ulcers, and mouth and body fungus. Maracyn Plus is for use in fresh and saltwater aquariums. Active ingredients: Sulfadimidine and Trimethoprim.

Methylene Blue is good as an anti-fungal for eggs and can help in increasing oxygen for the fish in specific situations- careful it stains.
Quick Cure is great for ich etc.:

Quick Cure is excellent for freshwater and marine aquariums. It is a powerful anti-parasite medication that cures Ick typically within 48 hours! It also helps fight against protozoan parasite infestations. Quick Cure is safe for use with live plants. 4 oz. treats 2,000 gallons

I normally have all of the above on hand plus a few others which are less crucial.

Thanks for that. I will have a look into the ones you suggested. Apart from the two that you said are available to order online, would the rest be available at a LFS?

Depends on the store some will have some of them, few will have them all. Also retail meds costs a lot more than if ordered online. I normally shop online at kens who is located near Boston, Massachusetts- kensfish.com
