Hi all,
Im trying to treat my fishys white stringy poop. Do you think Maracyn-Two will work? Also Ive been reading that it would stain my tank where the silcone is? Is this true? Cause I dont want to use it if its going to stain my tank.
Thanks ;)

White stringy poop isn't a disease in itself: it's a symptom of one.

Is the fish acting normally apart from the white stringy poop? First we have to find out what's wrong with the fish before we can treat it. :)

Only way maracyn two will work if you have a bacteria infection on top of the parasites as a bacteria infection is common with internal parasites, but it won't get rid of the parasites.

Hi Mariah :)

SPLiSH is right. Stringy white poop is nothing to worry about unless there are other symptoms present.

The first thing you would want to consider doing is giving your fish a change of diet.

NEVER use the heavy duty medicines unless it's absolutely necessary! If you do, you run the risk of developing resistant strains of bacteria in your tanks. Then, when the time comes that you really need those meds, they won't do you any good.

Acouple of my fish have white stringy poop. Only one of them right now (my black lyetail molly male) is sitting by himsef very lifeless at the bottom... The others seem ok unless you count when I just put the light on in my tank in the morning there all chilling at the bottom on the gravel...
So what should I do?

Could be wrong, but i have always ascoiated your fish symtoms with internal bacteria, i've never used Maracyn myself for treating and have heard it is very powerful stuff which does stain the tank.
I find "Anti internal bacteria" by Interpet is the best and isn't overly powerful; when i last had internal bacteria in my tank i slightly under medicated the tank (by about 2mls)and found it worked very well so i take it that you don't need to use alot of it; it doesn't stain the water either but you need to to start removing it via water changes by the 4th day wether you want to add more of it or stop medicating.

Hi!
I have bought several fish who were sick - on purpose - with the intent to nurse them back to health. I would agree - just keep an eye on the fish with the stringy white poo for a while and if you notice other things going on, then it's time to treat.

As far as the M2 staining your tank - I have used it in both acrylic and glass tanks and have never had any staining in the tanks. I did, however, do a 100% water change immediately after the meds were done because I have bettas and those tanks required 100% changes. NOt sure if that matters...?

Good luck to you!

Is this "Anti internal bacteria" by Interpet available in Canada? As if it is I may try it.
Now both my male lyetails are chilling at the bottom. This was the same symptom that my female lyetail showed before she died...
A couple of my other fish are now having white poop as well.. BUT they are still acting normally. Should I treat?
I should also add I have molly fry (6 of them) and a guppy fry (just one). Will the meds harm them?
Im not going to use the marycyn two.. As you guys are saying that its internal bacteria NOT internal parasites..
Thanks
