I just got in a new rescue - red capped oranda - in very poor shape. He is thin, fin & scale nipped into oblivion (was being kept with Koi  ), has a few streaks in his fins, and overall looks very rough. He also has a minor Ich infestation. I'd like to treat the Ich at the same time as his other ails - early stage septicemia, and maybe fin rot from the extensive damage - but am not sure if I can mix the meds. Is it safe, since one is an anti-parasitic, and one is an anti-biotic? And, if not, which is more of a threat to his health? (My guess is the septicemia, and since the fins are bitten right down to his body in some places, any secondary infection from the wounds)
Thanks in advance.
Oh, not that the water stats are off since I just put him in, but here is the info:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
pH: 7.5
Hardness: Moderate
Salt has allready been added, as well as aquasafe, stress guard, stress coat, and bio-protect.
The tank is a 10g - I know it is too small for long term. The fish is currently only 2.5in long, and the tank has two fluval filters and a bubbler. I will be testing the water daily and doing frequent changes. If he survives his illnesses, THEN I will buy a 20-29g tank; I just can not justify spending 60 bucks on that set up on a fish with low chances of survival yet.

Yes sounds in very bad shape, hows his breathing, as if he laboured breathing i wouldn't mix the two meds, increase aeration as you will need too if you mix both meds, keep an eye on the fish to see if he copes with two meds in the tank.
Finally i would only use two meds if he's in assolation.

Thanks for the speedy reply!
His breathing was labored when I got him, but now that he is in an aerated tank with good water conditions, it has calmed down. I think what I may do is add the Maracyn TC, see how he handles it (it seems to go easy on the fish), and if he does well, I'll add the Cure Ich 10 drops at a time over the course of several hours. The bubbler is rated for a much larger tank than he is in, so aeration shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks!

Thats sounds fine to me, hope he makes it bless him, he's not been looked after at all bless him, crossing fingers for him, good luck.

Just a quick update - "Nubby" has made it through the night, and is looking a bit better this morning. I couldn't believe how many Ich parasites I saw swimming out of him last night, and he still has some left on his head. He is perkier and breathing better this morning, and definately seems more comfortable with most of the Ich off of his body. I'll continue treatment and keep a very close eye on him as the concentration of the meds in the water goes up.

That's good news, keep up the good work bless him.
