Hey all. I know how everyone says you should not put certain kinds of fish in with others, but here goes:

I have had a tank (29 gallons) for over a year now. I have the following fish living in it happily for over 6 months (No signs of stress, no nipping at fins, and not one fish has died in the past 6 months!)

1 Male betta
2 Black tetras
2 Ruby tailed sharks
3 Medium tiger barbs
1 albino catfish
1 plycosumous (lg) (not sure how to spell it)
1 rubber-lipped plyco
1 catfish (not sure what kind)

Now, all are happy and healthy as I've said.... but my tank is getting kinda boring for me. I've already changed everything init around...but I want more fish. My question is does anyone who has a tank like this with a lot of different types in it, have any ideas what kind of fishes I can get that wont "distrub the balance"?

And just so ya'll know, I'll be posting some pics too once I get my camera back from my sister....damn siblings! :p

hi
:hi: to tff, glad all your fish get along,
if you dont get any info on newbie try posting this on tropical chat,
cant wait to see pics, all the best donna :) .

i'm pretty new to tff myself. but i do know one thing. clown loaches are fun, interesting, intelligent, and reasonably hardy. DEFINETLY look into them. the only drawback is that they need to be kept in groups of 2 or 3 or more. They're so cute when they lounge around the tank on their side. i had a couple but they died in a horrible tank change incident last week :( anyway, i hope this helps.

personally i wouldn't put any other fish in that tank, it sounds stocked to me, especially once those plecs grow up.

if you do want to add more it would only be to fill out proper schools. the tetras need to be in groups of 5 or more, the tiger barbs need to be in larger groups or they'll rip your betta to shreads. if your gourami doesn't get there first.

i'm sure i've seen somewhere that keeping 2 red tailed black sharks in one tank is a recipe for disaster too? very territorial. (if that's what the ruby tailed sharks are?)

is the albino catfish a cory? they need to be in groups too.

i'd ID the catfish you don't know before thinking of adding anything else as well.

they may be peaceful today, but it's a ticking timebomb.

I have to agree with you catxx....I have a 29 and just sitting here trying to picture that group of fish in it boggles my mind! But, if really wanting to add more, add to the schooling fish already there.
