you know how everything is going swimmingly(tee hee) then suddenly you start getting problems?? that's my tank right now. in the past few weeks i've lost 2 red-eye tetras, a serpae tetra and 2 honey gourami's. now my angelfish looks to be going the same way. the red-eyes had lumps on their tails which just ate away at them(and tonight i've noticed another one with a lump) and their mouths looked eaten away as well; the serpae went very thin and sort of cloudy coloured and the honey's just went pale with cloudy white patches on them and one of them had its underneath eaten away. now my angel has a couple of white 'bumps' on top of its head but also it's top lip seems to be disappearing as well. water stats are fine, i do weekly water changes and gravel cleans. any ideas?????

sounds a lot like mouth/body rot (Columnaris) which is triggered by either poor water conditions or sudden changes in water conditions,

what are the results for the water tests (ph,ammonia, nitrate and nitrite) and which tests are you using?

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Once the fish mouth rots away you are best putting the fish down.
The lumps have they suddenly just appeared, as lumps that suddenly appear are bacterial.
Any redness to the lumps.
Do the lumps look hard or soft like filled with fluids.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

300litre tank full of community fish. i have put down all the affected fish except my angel in case it gets better. its lumps look hard and are white. i don't have a test kit as i dont check stats regularly i just go by experience and how the fish are. theres no flicking/rubbing.

Its important that you know your water stats as its the first thing to rule out when things go wrong.
I would take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you.
If they look hard they could be tumours, all you can do is try a bacterial med.
Lumps that look like a cauliflower or a cluster of eggs are lymthocystis.
