Hi, My name is Michael, And I have a Managuense in about 40-50 Gallon tank up in my room, The thing I'm having trouble with is sexing him. I've read online that the dorsal fin is sharp. Do they mean the top fin, because if they do I've been looking in the wrong spot. I want to make sure I'm looking in the right spot so I know if it's a Male or Female.

In most cases with cichlids the males will have longer pointed anal and dorsal fins [ the top and bottom fin s] In many males these points or rays as they are called will extend past the tail , females rays are generally less pointed/rounded even , and don't extend past the tail .
