He just wont build one.

The female is in a bottle floatring in the tank so he can see her without getting to her.

He made a bubble nest before she arrived and now nothing.

Is there some special way to get him to build a bubble nest?

p.s She has been in the tank for just over a week. Has she been conditioned long enough?

Have you got another male that has a bubblenest. If so I've heard that if you take a spoon of that one and put it in with you other male, it sometimes gives the a kick start into making it for themselves.

Or better still use another male to build the nest for him (dont have both in the tank though lol) - it worked for me :)

I'm spawning a couple at the moment. At first he built a huge nest and then gradually he lost interest in it. I released her today and he frantically started to rebuild it.....chase her abit and then go back and build some more. It may work that way with yours. Good luck :good:

if there is too much surface movement he won't build a nest. Also if he doesn't feel comfortable he won't either. By putting th female in a floating chamber next to him you might have stressed him out a bit and he is no longer interested.
Maybe just see how they go over the next week and see what happens. If he doesn't build anything then remove her.

do you use indian almond leaf or betta spa?

between my sister and I our fish will not bubblenest without it, think it has something to do with our hard water making bubbles not last long.

anyways I add the betta spa....seriously by the end of the day we have nice bubblenests that stick around well.
