My Male Betta lives in a 25 litre (6.6 us gallons) Its heated, filtered and cycled. Alge is now forming so im thinking of a small plec, bulldog maybe (rubbernose). My only worry is that i tried 3 Khuil loaches with him not long ago and he didnt like it, he became very stressed ect. Any advise is more than welcome!!!!

How about a couple of otos instead? They're very small and maybe he wouldn't even notice them. They are extremely effective at eliminating algae.

Yup--some of those plec's can get mighty big. I've been in a store when people have tried to return them when they outgrew the tank. One lady must have been a perpetual abuser of that as she got turned down flat. They also need a very well established tank for algae and even then you should slip them an algae wafer or some veggies from time to time. Just an FYI for you.

I have various plecs in my comunuty tank which are all small, and non of them will grow more than 6" at the very most, i thought of a buldog plec as there good alge eaters and dont grow any more than around 5"!! Does anyone have pics of oto`s as iv not seen these before?

I've suggested these several times lately because I recently got some and love them. Pitbull plecs. I like them a lot and doubt your betta would find them offensive.

You shouldn't have trouble finding information on them, but you might have trouble finding one to purchase. I just stumbled across some at a pet store I don't usually go to.

I don't think a tank that size would be big enough for any plec. I have two bristlenose plecs which only grow to 5" or 6" inches, but I was advised that they still needed to be in at least a 20 gallon. You might want to check with the members in the catfish section about tank size requirements before you decide.

Ah, yes I agree. I didn't look at the tank size. Shame on me. My pitbulls are in a 10 gallon now and they almost look cramped, but not quite. I'm thinking about moving them to a larger tank eventually. I wouldn't put a rubbernose in there. Pitbulls only grow to 2", though, so would be a much better choice. I think 20 gallons sounds like a good sized tank for a rubbernose. Ottos are sensitive to water quality and things tend to not be too stable in such a small tank so I don't know how successful you'd be with them.

Uhm, sorry that I'm typing in such a fragmented way tonight. I guess that's just how my brain is working. I'm tired. I doubt my posts are even going to be any help! I think I'm just putting down thoughts and nothing really useful...

I've got a bulldog plec, rubbernose plec, whatever they call that species. It did wonders for my aquarium glass and seems to do pretty well in cooler water between 18-20 degrees celscious. I have a ten gallon aquarium and I never have to clean glass again. The only thing this hardy species did not do for my tank was to eat the algae on my plants. They are quite shy, I think. The downside is that they only come out at night.
