I have a lovely turquoise betta.
When I got HIM he had lovely long fins and he was slim but about 3 months later after being with a female his find got really short and really I mean really fat, I just thought he was eating so much and he did eat alot of my guppy fry too, so I put him in a live bearing plastic thing for babies and ill fish and I put him on a diet of 2 flakes once a day for a month and he still didnt slim down. I took him to the shop where I got him from and I said I have a male betta whos really fat can you tell me whats wrong. The man said well for a start its a female I was like excuse me? he said its not a male its a female I said are you sure and he said yea its got short fins so I said my female nipped the fins off thats why. He was adiment it was a female I was like well whats wrong with HER then. He said its egg bound n I was like well its was definatly a male when I got it so how can it be egg bound. I then said if it is a male whats wrong with it, and the man said its either tumors or something wrong with its swim bladder, if its a female the eggs will go away in about a week or two.
Anyway I brung it home and month later its still fat.
Cna someone please help me. If you need pictures to see what I mean email me on husky.breeder@hotmail.com and I will email you a picture before its fins were nipped and after they were nipped and one from the top of it to show its massive belly!!
