Male Trewavase Holding An Egg.....

OK this is weird, but one of my males is currently holding an egg.....and struggling....

Is it possible the female spat and he picked it up to try and eat it?

Never seen this before.

He is definately male.

He has since dropped it and appears back to his normal self now.

Very weird.
