I've had a lone male swordtail for about 6 weeks, he was schooling with the mollies but mostly ignoring the neons - well at the weekend I bought 2 female swordtails and wow..... livebearers only have one thing on their minds?!?!?! At first he tried it on with the black widow tetras cos after so long he was a bit confused, but they weren't having any, and then he suddenly realised that the two orange/yellow fish were females of his species and now he is the most attentive boyfriend around! I think they get a bit sick of him cos they tag-team him....if one is really getting bothered the other one will approach and let the bothered one duck out into the plants. He is so funny to watch - after playing it cool and manly for 6 weeks he is now like a puppy with a bone (or two). And no jokes about bones please! I guess I'm going to be having baby swordies soon as well as mollies!!

Bones.

Anyways, seems as though your fish exhibit human-like qualities. Well, at least the guy's happy.

And yes, they have only one thing (other than food) on their minds.

Ah yes, definitely sounds like a guy. Of any species. At least it's like praying mantises, or a lot of spiders, where the female kills the male, then gnaws off his head....

Or some kinds of shrews, where the male will spends days going at it, then just fall over and die....

Hm, it's good to be female...

*them bones them bones, them, long bones....*
