(2/15)yesterday I purchased the newest addition to my fishy family, a male tuxedo swordtail. When I saw him in the pet store he was very active and looked healthy, but now he just kind of stays in one spot, only swims around a little and I haven't seen him eat yet. Other wise he looks healthy. Could he just need time to adjust to the new environment? All of my other fish swam around right away. Hes in the tank with 2 female swordtails and 3 albino corys.

Stats:
10g
nitrate:0
nitrite: 0
ammonia: less than .2
ph: 6.8
temp: 78 degrees

Update (2/17): Yesterday he was starting to look better but now now he's really starting to go downhill, but I don't know what from. I switched him into another tank, thats been cycling longer. The stats are:

Ph: 6.7
ammonia: 0
nitrate: 10
nitrite: 0
temp: 78

He just foats at the back of the tank in one spot. Hes not eating, and I think hes losing color. Hes not breathing heavy or anything, and hes not laying at the bottom or swimming erratically so I don't think its swim bladder. I don't know what to do.

Is it me or the pic i can see a fluffy spot on his body.

I would say stress to a new enviroment, they do go through alot, also he could of already been ill, but i can't see no signs of desease on him, but if he's pale its a sign of stress, turn the tanks light out and let him settle down, good luck.

I woke up this morning and he was dead. I'm still not even sure what was wrong with him. he had some red markings on him that weren't there last night but I think that they're just from the other fish picking at him after he was dead. His back looks alittle dry too. Any thoughts on his death would be great. Thanx.

Red streaks could be septcemia. The dry scale looking things could also be a loss of slime coat.

For future reference, this is why it is good to quarentine new fish, so they don't have a chance to die in your aquarium and posibly spread diseases.

Sorry for your loss, R.I.P. Yes red patches or streaks is septicemia.
