Male Platys

how big do male platys grow? i know females can reach 2 and a half inches but the males are smaller, but how smaller?.... thnaks in advance

Not noticeably smaller at all IME. Just less chubby- though even then one of my young males is distinctly on the chubby side; probably because he is the alpha male and gets the choicest pickings. He is certainly bigger than any of his sisters from the same batch. You don't get the big gender-related size difference you get in guppies.

a few of my older females and my one oldest fish that's a hi fin male platy are all roughly 2.00"-2.5" long or so.

They aren't smaller then the females in anything but girth size, in my experience. You may be thinking of Guppies, or something like that. 7 gallons is pushing it for Platies, and if you want all males, you'll want a few to spread out aggression....

I'd look for a smaller fish.
