I put my male platy in a 10 gallon tank because I know he is what made my females stressed and die. So he is by himself and then I put the larger dwarf neon Rainbow with him. He or she is not happy.(the rainbow).

In my 25 gallon tank I have 8-4 month old female Platys, 2-9 month old female Platys, 1 pregnant female Platy, a small dwarf neon Rainbow and a Pristella Tetra. Oh and most of my babies have the curved spine. I don't want them to get pregnant thinking it could kill them. The LFS said it was because I gave her Meds when she got ich. I didn't know she was pg.

So my question is what do I put in the 10 gallon tank to make my male platy comfortable. I know they like to be in groups. Please help, I don't like seeing my fish sad and alone. If these were your fish what would you do.

I'm going to buy a 55 gallon tank but I can't until tax time.

Hi Peetsi
If you add another male platy they will probably fight and if you add female platy they will end up pregnant .
If I was you I would go for a couple of honey gouami which will not get too big and will swim all over the tank.
Im sure there will be other suggestions.
By the way, welcome to the forums :D

Thanks and thanks for such a fast response. That might be a good idea, at least the smaller gourami's. I'll get some info on them and then in the mean time, like you said, maybe they'll be more suggestions.

You can put male Platies together, but it's best to have 5 or more to spread out aggression. And I think that will be pushing it a bit in a 10 gallon.

As for other fish...you have lots of options. Do you want a schooling fish, a single fish, a pair? Middle dwellers, bottom dwellers? :)
