Male Platy Is Ill

My male Platy is losing loads of weight and is trying to eat but spits the food out again, he also hides a lot. Has he a disease and is it a hazard to other fish or me?

I think that may be a bacterial infection..? What are your water parameters? fish are more vulnerable to disease and illness in poor water conditions. Someone more experienced might come along and correct me if I'm wrong..

My water readings are all fine. He tries to eat but spits the food out again. Today he looks really weak.
