Male Platy Chasing Female Platy

so i bought 2 platy about 3 days ago, 1 male and 1 female. then i saw how the male is harassing the only female. so yesterday i bought another female platy, and my male is still aggressively harassing my 2 female platy.

i have a 5.5g tank and i don't want to add another fish in it. i don't know what to do

Many here would suggest the small tank size is giving the female platies nowhere to escape from the male.

i have hiding spots though. and my new female platy seems shy. she doesn't come close to the 2 platy. she just stays in the corner.

Fish ain't daft. If you lived in a bathroom, and couldn't see your mate, you'd probably look behind the shower screen. And you'd probably be really stressed by the fact that you only had a bathroom to live in.

You did the right thing by getting a second female to spread the male's, er, attentions. Now you need to do the next right thing, and buy them the whole house, not just the bathroom.

And if you can't do that, then the other thing to do is to return all the fish, and get something more suitable for a small tank like yours.
