as some of you may know, i had an accidental spawning some time ago, between a male DTPK and a female CT.

i ended up with 7 surviving fry, (not too bad considering they spawned in a sorority tank, and got syphoned out into a tiny tank at an early age to prevent them becoming lunch!)

of those seven i have 1 definate male (looks like he's gonna be VT), 3 i think are female, who are in the sorority tank with the other girls (but i will be watching them closely!) and 3 runts

the biggest of the runts, is now almost reaching the size of the larger siblings
i was thinking that it was a female, but today while shifting some tanks around, i had another fish floating in the tank with "her" and now i'm just confused!

looking fairly female

I'd say it's a male. Very nice dorsal. :good:
thanks :D i think thats the DT gene showing through, i'm pleased with his colour too, he's looking really vibrant!

several of the fry have the black line edging the fins (you can see it in some of the pictures) would this be classed as butterfly? or is it something different?

He's a stunner Ibble :good: Are you gonna spawn him with a sibling?

aww what a pretty little boy!
i was in one of my lfs on friday and saw a very striking pk male had been mistaken for a female and was parading around the tank of girls...lol

it looks like a nice little pk male that most certainly carrys the dt gene, I would breed him back to a sister, or mother if she was the one to carry the dt gene. I think that would give you lots of dts with out deformitys, am I correct?

just sometimes in a spawn you have fish that take a much much longer time to grow out then the rest, or they stay more peitte their whole lives, or they die. in the wild these would be the ones most likely to be eaten first, thus the strongest survice to live and breed.

its normal to get a few smaller fish in a spawn, or to get many more if they arnt feed well and kept in too small a growout tank.

just managed to get a few pics of his bigger brother, who looks VT, but has hidden depths, for some reason all these guys are terrified of the camera, and hide as soon as they see it in my hand! so difficult getting pics of them, however bribery seemed to do the trick this time
as you can see, he has the black edging to his fins too.
