i have lost two of my female guppies recently so only have the one left with the male, but the male seems withdrawn, he was always 'closer' to the other two females they were always together, now he just sits in the corner all day, anything i can do to cheer him up a little? he is stilll only young but i have 5 more fry of a similar size in another tank, do you think they would cheer him up a little? thanks for any help

if you add the other 5 fry make sur there is a retio of 1 male to 3 females as you had before if not go get what you need to adjust this

Guppies should do fine alone, but if you wish to add them it shouldn't be a problem.

3:1 female to male ratio isn't necessary once you go over the first male. 2:1 is acceptable after the first male. I would be comfortable with a 4:2 female ratio for two male Guppies.

Like Betta91 said, make sure they can escape mouths.

My fancy guppies mouths werent big enough to eat their own fry!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I left the mom with them for a week and never lost a baby.

Last time one of my guppies was about to drop I put her in my small tank to have the fry. ( I have 2 Angelfish who would make short work of them ). Anyway, within 5 mins of finishing giving birth the mother started eating her own babies so I had to remove her straight away.
