male guppy might have fin rot not sure ive treated the tank with bacterial treatment and fin rot all in one solution but this morning i turned the light on and half his tale has got missing over night in my tank they are all commuinty fish guppys daneos and tetras i have also done a 50 % water change before i used the all in one solution he can swin but not for long periods and he stay one the bottom of the tank

use a fin rot treatment or melifix.

How ever i would be thinking it's the tetra's causing the problem as they are known to be nippy.

If he's lost half his tail sadly he's not going to make it, plus a bad sign when they lay on the bottom of the tank.
What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
With livebearers when they have finrot can mean somthing else it going on.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.

everything is normal eating and going to the toilet ok ive just been told that it could be my tetras that are causing the problem for nipping they are alot bigger the the male guppy

Have you seen them nipping.
I kept guppys with tetra's with no problem.
Plus he's laying on the gravel usually not a good sign.
I would issolate him in a container at the top of the tank.

tetra's would explain why the tail when over night, what tetra's do u have?
One thing with tetra's most of the time they are fine, but it just takes one fish to turn nasty and then they love to eat guppy tails.

Also test you ammonia etc etc and keep doing the water changes and these will all help.

I agree some tetra are nippy.
But its not uncommon for a guppy to lose half or even all it's tail overnight.

Not quite true, for finrot to set in their has to be another problem like poor food, bad water condations.
Then the infection needs to get in via a nip, sore or splitting to the fin, usualy at first red vains being noticed in the fins, with fin rot thee dges of the fin are usualy sore and red and take a couple of days to erode away.

If their are no signs and the fin has gone then this is almost sure to be a nipping from another fish.

Did the fish have a noticable split fins or soreness befor this problem?

I agree finrot can be a secondary infection that why I asked.
Red streaking or red edging can be septicemia to poor water quality.
Poor water quality can stop the blood flowing to the fins and cause finrot.
Fish with flowing fins need excellent water quality.

They don't take a couple of days for the fins to erode they can erode in hours.
