Male/Female snails???

how do you tell the difference ?? i'm going today to get on for my other tank , and i already have on for my first tank, i'd like to get them the opposite sex so if i wanted to mate them later it would be possible... can you help me out.?? and also does water temp matter to snails ? the new one will be going in a farily cold tank.

What type of snails are you getting?

Many snails don't require a male and a female to reproduce.

Apple snails are one type that I know of that DO require a male and a female, so I'm guessing maybe that is what you're talking about? If so, this site has pictures of how to tell males and females apart:

no, not apple.... just the "regular" kind...lol! um i think it's mystical black or something... i got it at walmart, i think they are the only ones they carry......

Black mystery snails?

If so, it's just another "common name" that Apple Snails with black shells are sold under. It's all still the same family. They also come in gold, jade-green, blue, lavendar, and lots of other colored shells. (You can find all different colors on Aquabid, if you're interested!)

I think most are asexual which means they go "i whant kids" and then sometime later kids are born. if this is true then ur snails are imbreed
