I mean, for example with this thread, there are so many breeders on here that could answer Mel's question and can provide a more in depth answer than Google can. Also, you get a 'real-time' reply on here and therefore, if you have another question, there's someone actually online (most of the time) to answer it. That's my point, everything afishdude says is abrupt, impersonal and totally lacking any sort of friendly approach. Just sounds like everyone's annoying him by not knowing the answers. Forums are a lot more fun when you have a hobby than boring old one-way search engines. If everyone used search engines, forums would be empty. Why take such offense to people asking questions? Even if it's a lot of questions. I been keeping bettas about 6 weeks I think, I'm still learning, sorry I ask too many questions [in your opinion]. Like I said, if you can't be more pleasant about the things you say, then don't say them. Thanks.

yes i was pissed off after you started yelling at me but at the begning i wasnt trying to be rude, i just suggested that you try google, i dont know you mel, you could be the smartest guy on the plannet or the dumbest retard alive, i just dont know. that is why i suggest google.

I can see it now, you'd have to tie back your waist-long beard while doing water changes, you'd worry whether the dye in the massive death's head tattoo on your forearm might harm you fish, and every time you saw a pet store you'd have to pull in on your motorcycle and worry the employees by cooing over the bettas, not to mention scaring them stiff if their fish were being mistreated

I'll admit that I got irritated with Grimmy and FBTgirl for a while, but that was due to the fact of them posting numerous times for the most pointless reasons. Mel asks decent questions which I believe are better to be asked on here - google something and you still have questions after it. Everyone has different opinions, at least asking on here will give you a wider range of answers.

Hi folks

Im going to ignore the scuffling and get back to the question. My last spawn was in very soft water, pH 6.5. The water is buffered so its very hard to change it to pH 7 (beleive me I have tried). The spawn survivors were in the ratio 20 female : 1 male, amazingly. This may reflect the water conditions as mentioned above, or it could have been a genetic defect in the male spawn where most of them died in the first two weeks - obviously couldnt tell the sex of any deaths that young, or maybe the father produced mainly female gene (x) sperm. There is alot of possible factors, I reckon its best not to worry about it or try to adjust conditions, over several spawns Mendel and the law of averages say you should be roughly 50;50

Afishdude you do help people and i know you are sometimes miss understood but please in future stick to "if you can't say some thing nice, then don't say any thing at all". I do understand where you were coming from on the google point but i wouldn't know where to start so i would ask on here too. Every one is different and that has to be allowed for.

That is an interesting question Mel going by what has been said i should have mostly girls, but i would like at least 10 little boys lol.
