Hi guys, was just taking a look at my cherry barbs and saw one of the males with a swollen-looking stomach. It is on the right side. Not sure if his behavior has any changes but he's keeping to himself. The rest of the fish are all active and fine. Both ammonia and nitrites are O. Is this internal parasites? I really hope not :-(

Edit: Actually I'm not sure if it's the stomach or abdomen.. When you look at him from the front, you see his right side sticking out. I also noticed some white stringy poo. I'm really hoping it's constipation and not internal parasite because my tank has been problem-free since day one.

I hope, for your sake, you were knocking on wood when you made that last statement! I'm not very superstious, but every time I say something like that, the fates or whatever hammer me right and left! Swollen abdomen, white stringy poo, lack of appetite, keeping to himself... it sounds like it could be internal parasites.

Thanks for the reply but he died last night after holding up for 3 days.

His scales started to pop up a bit and it looked like dropsy but I'm not sure either.

Thank you colleen0309. He was a real fighter though!
