My tank is 34 litres and currently contains only 3 female platys. Very peaceful girls they are too.

Someone suggested that I could put a betta in there too, but I'm not sure. Information on this site seems to say they are incompatible with livebearers, but thinkfish.co.uk reckoned it was OK.

What do you think? Could I put one in there or not?

I have my male in a 100 liter tank w female platies and he is happy as can be. The platties leave him alone and he stays on his side of the tank. The tank is well planted and there are plenty of resting places and hiding places for all the fish. All the platies came into the tank pregnant and very few babies survived so I suppose that Herman took care of the rest of the babies... which is ok in my book since I have enough anyway. I do have to say Herman is quite a mellow Betta and this tank situation may not work for all of them, but at least in my experiece it can be done. There are also 5 cories in the tank and I have never seen Herman interact with them.

Just my 2 cents worth.
