Would it be possible to house a male betta fish with a school of 5-8 glowlight tetras?
They'd be in a 10g tank, heavily planted.

Edit: Actually, I have no idea if it's a male or a female. I've got him on his own in a small 2.5g tank.

Pop a mirror in front of him/her and you should quickly find out the sex.  Females will flare, but don't have that prominant "beard" when they do.  Anyway, I don't see a problem either way.  Glowlights are small and quick enough to avoid trouble especially in a nice group and your Betta doesn't sound like it has extreme fins (or you would know it was male) that might be tempting to nippers. Plus, Bettas love heavily planted tanks- sounds lovely.

I would say no, from experience.

I have a 12 gallon tank that is well planted.
I added 6 ember tetras to the tank with my male betta. For the first few days they were fine.
Then one of the tetras began to nip my betta's tail. One day I came home from work and the tetra was floating in the tank, dead. I assume the betta snapped and killed him.

If I were you I would go with pygmy corydoras. I now have 11 in the tank with my betta and they hardly notice each other. And they are so adorable.

To answer your question: yes, it is possible but of course there may come some problems along the way
