This has probably been asked before so forgive me but is there anything male bettas can be kept with?

I have a 15 gallon tank that lightly planted (will change soon) and its empty, I tried putting in my only betta "Blue" but the current was strong so hes stayed in his 2.5

Now im thinking of killing the current so he can stay in there so its one less tank to worry about, is there anything he can be put with?
Currently the only fish ive decided i want are a 4/5 corys to live at the bottom but other than that im not to fussed.

Any ideas?

that would help they arent very strong swimmers so getting rid of the current will do the job

also cories are fine with bettas to fast for them to catch and that sif they even have a go at them

Umm he didn't say he was killing the fish - he said he was thinking of killing the current. - You realised :good:

I believe Bettas are usually fine with corys. Tank mates need to be peaceful fish that don't nip fins (neon tetras aren't great tank mates because of this).
Bottom dwelling fish are probably best.
Avoid anything like guppies or anything with long/flowy fins as the betta may mistake it for another betta and attack.
Add the tank mates BEFORE your betta so he is going into their territory, not them coming into his.
Beware that your betta may simply decide he doesn't like tankmates so you may have to rehouse the other fish, or move the betta back to his smaller tank.

I've kept them in a large community tank with no issues in the past, with all sizes of fish just avoid fin nippers. think it's more down to selecting the right betta as I've always picked one that was in a busy tank in the shop so it never got the fright of it's life in my tank as they are timid fish

it will keep the delecate betta fins from being sucked in to the filter and being riped off, had that happen to a baby ct first time i put it in an adult tank in a divided section,,, his fins never looked the same....

Anyone with more knowledge in Bettas willing to give me a couple of possible lists for a community tank?
like I said in OP other than Corys im not really fussed as I like pretty much all tropical fish

So far ive decided on

15 Gallon/ 64 Liter Planted tank (setup now and fully cycled)
1x Male Betta
5-6 Corys (depends on what the LFS has in really)

and thats about it. -_-

Here is what i have learned. I got a betta fish put him with three neons, two platy fish. He ate the neons first night, then nipped at the paty fish for three days until one died due to stress. SO what I have learned stick the fish being by itself or try to put the cory fish with him. I heard ghost shrimp are okay as long as they are larger then the betta. I really would stick with bottom dwellers as everyone has said it will be easier on you and the fish.

I have been stressed for two weeks now with fish being killed and putting my betta in a small bowl until my second tank is up and running to put the platy fish on there so he can get his 5 gal tank back.

If you want more fish then use a another tank.

Some Rosy Barbs,Zebra Danios or some Rasboras maybe?

Alot of questions about this recently, maybe we should sort out a single thread and sticky it upto or something..
