Alright, my male angelfish in my pair... suddenly seems to be hiding. The pair used to pretty much always have their breeding tubes out, and would spawn about once every week and a half. However, starting about 3 days ago, the male has began hiding behind a piece of slate, and never coming out. The female to contrast is still acting the same. The male is still eatting fine, but his verticle fin and tail seem to be 'sorta' clamped. What do you think may be wrong? A tragic break up, or something more serious?

Im no angle fish expert nix, but i heard that they get stressed out when other fish are suddenly removed from the tank, have you moved any fish around lately?

Hmm no, BUT I did recently add some fish, 2 ottos and a rubber nose pleco, I was considering the possibility the pleco had attacked the angel, because I thought his slime coat looked odd on one spot of his body.

ottos and plecos are peaceful for the most part, i dont think they would attack an anglefish, but then again iv never kept a rubber nose. does the slime coat look like it has been removed or just discolored?

I'd say slightly discolored, and I have read stories of plecos attacking and scaring angels.

Maybe the pleco sucked on his slime coat and he's stressed or scared the pleco will hurt him again. :dunno:

Well thats what I was told on here and was also told to be sure the pleco was always well fed because he would start to suck on the angelfish.
