Malawi Tank

right here is a list of the cichlids i can get hold of i want to stock my 55g with any tipe of malawi as they all have good colours and such like so im not terribly fussed just want to get a good balance so if i list them could someone tell me out of the list what ones would be best for me and how many of each would be good for my 55g right:

pseudotropheus red zebra, blue callainos, red top ice blue, red top ice blue albino, auratus, elongatus
ob zebra???
melan eatern blue, johanni
nyassae peacock
hap ahli, electric blue, boadzulu, fusco, rostatus, brownae
yellowtail blue moorii
lamprologus birchardi
labodochromis caeruleus
duboisi???

Not all of these may be malawi i copied the list from my lfs african cichlid list so any ideas on what would be best for me to order would be much appreciated cheers!!!!!

good lord, take your list and read up on each one, some of those grow huge, some are so aggressive, some are NOT for begginers!!

Also go to their "library" section and then to the "quick reference".....there they'll have a "cooky cutter" guide you can get use to get an idea of what you need to put together as a beginner in cichlids. I've never kept anything but mbunas and if you want my opinion they're the best candidates for those just getting into african cichlids and want to set their first community up right. :nod:

With mbunas, they all eat the same (they're vegetarians and don't take well to meat at all), the females are almost just as colorful as their male counterparts, if not as colorful, and accept for the aggressive ones like demasoni, kenyis, and bumble bees.....you can mix and match em without a lot of problems. :fun:

Those are red zebras in my avatar....had my 55 gallon stocked full with those and yellow labs and clown loaches. The best tank I ever had.
