Please id for me. Bought as malawi but LFS can't tell me what sp it is.

It is NOT a hybrid, it's Labidochromis textilis, lovely little fish.

Could it maybe be Melanochromis joanjohnsonae [Pearl of Likoma]

Nope, m.joanjohnsonae are blue, it's definately l.textilis.
