Hi all new to here and been keeping fish for a while but still learning, i know many people say 180litre tanks arent great for malawis but I have seen it work well and seeings I have a empty one i was curious on stocking advice? How many would live in my tank happily? At the moment i have red zebras 4x females 1x male, 1 demonski, 1x jalo reef, 1 red top hongi male. Would these be ok to live in my 180 or is the stocking too low :) thank you

Welcome to TFF!

I will add to the many other people and say your tank is too small. Sorry for that. I wonder what you have seen and what you consider "working well"? I bet on closer examination and when comparing life expectancies things were not going so well. Also it is a misconception of the past that one needs to overstock with malawi cichlids. Overstocking will inevitably lead to stressed fish with all it's attached problems.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for that, basically i want to ensure that they are not stressed etc.. the stocking idea would be what i mentioned in the first post.
I have seen multiple tanks one of which was a 100litre tank which i saw as being cruel as it was stocked that heavily the fish could hardly move the filtration was pants meaning that this lad done small water changes daily. On the other hand iv seen yellow labs and red zebras work well in a 180litre seemed to be plenty of room and lots of hiding places with a 2000ltr per hour filtration this is what i wanted to create really but not a fan of mixing yellow labs and rebras (no hybrids), also iv been sold a malawi and im sure its a hybrid can i post the pic here for id?
