Malawi Cichlid. Yes Or No?

im considering moving on to Malawi Cichlids in the next few months and im looking to put the groundwork in to find out there needs etc. My water parameters in terms of hardness and PH appear perfect for them. I have a 100 Litre tank which is just shy of 3 foot, which i know restricts me at this time in terms of numbers and species, but im led to believe that the yellow lab Malawi Cichlid is a good choice for a beginner. What im looking to find out is, how many can i keep and which other Cichlids fall into a good beginner cichlid bracket.

The general consesus is that you need a 4-foot tank minimum for the long term needs of any Malawi setup, ~250l. It is not all doom and gloom though, with careful selection of species, you could do a mini Tanganikan setup (a hareem of shell dwellers, a rock dweller and some hard water loving dithers that will stay near the water surface).
