One of my malawis laid 8 fry around my tank last week, bit worried about them getting eaten. Any advice of what i can do with them? there to fast to catch. I have one in a seperate breeding tank at the moment. The mother seems to be still looking after them but they keep venuring further out of there hiding places. Also would anyone be intrested in buying any?

Mbuna, Haps or Peacocks?

I would leave them I had hundreds out of my tank over a couple of years and that was an Mbuna/Hap mix. They will live off what they scavenge and get braver as they get bigger, as long as there are enough places to hide away.

ok cheers i was just worried they might get eaten, i have convicts in there with them.
also the mother of the babies is yellow with black and white horizontal stripes not too sure on the father though.

This may sound harsh.
But it doesn't sound like you know what they are. Probably hybrids.
So I would allow nature to take its course and allow them to be eaten.

Sad? There's nothing sad about knowing what you're keeping, it's called being responsible so that hybrids don't constantly get sold on to unsuspecting people.

I'm not inferring that you plan on selling yours on but it helps to know what you have should you run into problems and need specific info on specific fish. How do you know what other fish would be compatible with what you have if you don't actually know what you have or have the attitude that you're not bothered?

I don't think it is responsible to distribute/sell fish where you aren't sure of what they are.
