I've always believed Malawi should be kept in species tanks, but a friend told me the other day that if you have a tank set up with other fish (such as mine, with a few barbs) that you can add Malawi fish and they won't be aggressive to species already set up in the tank.

Any truth to this at all? if so, are there any specific fish i should go for? (as i said, i have 8 barbs - mix of cherry, rosy & tiger, in a 180 litre (36 gal?) tank)

I had 1 Kenyi, 1 Yellow Lab and some of there babys, with 5 Tiger barbs ( had 7 but 2 died) and 2 rapheal cats. I never had problems with them, the cichlids only picked on their own species.

That sounds promising.

My barbs are now quite happy as a group, so im hopeing they won't #101## anyone off either
