Malawi And Air Stones

I've just set up a new malawi tank and was wondering if air stone or simular is needed

Depends how much water movement your filter(s) are creating... Although, air pumps don't really add much oxygen to the water as the bubbles are too large to be dissolved.

It's personal choice more than anything else really

a small amount of surface agitation is sufficient,

An airstone isnt' necessary unless you like the look of it.

That's good not the biggest fan of them and there is a fair amount of surface movement caused by the filter
