2 weeks ago I purchased a Peters Elephantnose. I knew that this would be my most demanding fish but my tanks water stats are good and I had done a lot of research before buying my "dream" fish. He seems to be getting along great with his tank mates and mostly lives in his cave. He eats bloodworm and tubifex readily and seemed generally happy. Today disaster has struck as he seems to have white spot! No fish I have kept has had this for over a year and the medication I have cannot be used with moramyids (peter). I have been searching the net and Malachite Green seems the best solution. Is it safe for Peter? Please help.

After further research I have found Octozin by Waterlife this doesnt specialise in white spot but may help without hurting "peter". Anyone who has used this product please reply Im going to order it tomorrow.

Malicate is carcinogenic but only if you use it alot, like on farms etc etc.

It's difficualt to find in a pure form, but for best results you need a malicate and formalin mix, this is the main stuff in protozin so i would suggest you use this.

I have sucessfully treated 'longnosed' elephantfish for ich with FMG by NTlabs.
the dosage is 1ml per 30ltr and treat for 5 consecutive days.

Thankyou both very much for your replys :good: The company that makes the protozin recomends octozin for more sensative fish so I think I will go ahead and order this but it is great news that elephantnoses have been treated for white spot! As you (wolf) have actually had experience treating them with FMG I am also going to order this. I will use the octozin first as the FMG says dont use with sensative fish such as sterlet, tench, rudd, and orfe. But if the octozin doesnt work (it may not it does seem very weak) then I will use the FMG. Thanks to both of you again having white spot in the tank with "peter" was my worst nightmare you have been a great help.
