Hi,
I would like to know if say, you fishes had some parasites or bactiera infection. After a few weeks of treatment, they seem to be okay. However, how long does the bacteria or parasites stay in the tank?

Now, my question is, is there a way to make sure that a tank is disease free? or will there always be some trace of previous diseases?

Thanks

In a way yes, but without something (host) to live on it would die as its a parasite in a way.

As far as I can tell these deseases cannot live in water alone, so in effect no.

Usually after I complete a medication I do a large water change (30-40%), just habbit though. I dont think you can ever make a tank desease free. The best way is to look after it and your fish. Maintenance and love will do the job. A UV filter will obviously help a great deal too.

Generally, if a parasite doesnt have a host to live on; how long will it disappear?

Thanks
