Major Housing Problems

So, my friend has 4 bettas. Before xmas, she had 2 of the 10 gallon aquariums, each with a divider so each betta got 5 gallons. A few days before xmas, her brother pulled the tank to the edge of the counter so it fell and smashed. She got the fish quickly and they're doing fine. She has them in the other 10 gallon tank, and it's divided. There are 4 compartments, each about 2.5 gallons. For xmas, she got two of the large kritter keepers which we estimate holds about 4-5 gallons. They also gave her 12 Killifish fry. So, how should she arrange all this? She also has a 3 gallon bow front. How should she make the housing arrangements? She cant get new tanks until she moves in 3-4 months. What should she do?

That's a tricky one!

I want to say; put two of the bettas in the new xmas tanks, another in the bow front and the killies in the 10 gallon, but that leaves a betta with nowhere to go :crazy:

I don't know if bettas and killies can co-eist, but I don't think they will, so she might have to put two of the bettas in the new tanks, two of them in the 10g with divided into two and the fry in the bow front. It's not ideal for the fry, but with lots and lots of water changes they ought to be ok until your friend can get a bigger tank for them.

The bow front is holding one of the killfish fry (i forgot about him

)she hatched herself, he's about a month old, and these new ones are about 2 weeks, so I'm worried he'll eat them.... Only way we can think of that seems eh, is to put 1 betta in an Xmas tank, re arrange the dividers in the 10 gallon to make 3 compartments for the other bettas, and put the other killis in the other Xmas tank

So, she wants to know if she should do the bettas in this order in the tank:
Male, female, female, male
Or what order would be least stressful??

Would it be possible to do as fluttermoth said, but perhaps divide the 10G so the killies have say 7G and the betta 3G?

I'd do put one betta in the bowfront, one in each kritter keeper, (I've debated getting one of these but not because they're unfiltered), then all the killis in the 10 gallon, and put a divider up in the 10 gallon to give a betta 3-4 gallons of water. (Same as cezzaXV)
Or she could do all 4 in the ten, males on each side and btw you could keep both fms together I believe instead of seperating them too. then killis in the Kritter Keeper, then she's got an empty 3 gallon and an empty keeper.
Or she could do males on each side of the ten with one fm in the middle one fm in a keeper and killies in the other keeper.

My 3 suggestions if you choose one. :good:

So, I think what she's decided to do is: leave the bettas in the divided 10 gallon, males on the side. Put the killis in the kritter keepers, and leave the oldest Killi fry in the bow front... In April she intends to get another 10 gallon to make into a female betta community with 5 females. So, I think that's the plan. What's your guys opinion of that??
