major dilemma

ok well I have a male convict cichlid that I am trying to sell to my lfs since he is killing all of the convicts in my tank. The problem is that they cant take him because they dont have any room for him there becasue they have too many. And I hav no where else to put him. What can I do? I need help with this problem fast!

If you need to get rid of ASAP you could try giving him away. Local paper is often free for giveaways or freecycle groups

Placing an ad is free. In other words, if you want to try to give your con out to somebody via the local newspaper, it might be free for you to place an ad.

Have you tried just giving it to your LFS ...................unfortunately you'd probably have better luck giving someone a cold or the flue , before an unwanted fish

I will try the ad in the newspaper, but it probably wont work because all of the ads in there are just for stores

I also heard that you could just flush him down the toilet since it would be more humae than all of the other fish dying. I thought this was cruel, but I want to hear your thoughts on this.

As I have warned in many of my posts (replies) concerning mating cons. NOBODY WANTS THEM, NOBODY!!!

I had atleast a 1000. I found homes for about 20. Nobody would take them!

I used the small ones for feeders and the larger ones fed to my sons turtle.

well no I didnt breed him. And I dont have a turtle to feed him too, thats too bad that i dont, so i heatd that i could euthinise him her is about 4.5 to 4 inches long. What do you think?

There is nothing else to have done unless you set up another tank for him. My cons turned into a nightmare. I to did not plan on breeding them, the two I had paired up had babies ,I left fry in tank thinking the 13 inch oscar would eat them all? These things protected their young so well they all lived and the oscar learned to fear convicts. This pair continued to mate, then the babies started to mate and their babies. I tried to give them to everybody. I felt really bad about killing them after raising them. I started to suck the fry out as soon as they were born and feed to my angels. The remaining larger ones to the turtle. About six months or less I removed all the females and to the turtle they went.

I have 6 full grown males left.

I only have one convict in there. Yeah I would feel bad killing him because really he is doing nothing but what he knows how to do defend his territory when any fish gets close. But, I cant keep him

This why I said you have a better chance of giving some one a cold , than giving away the fish not many people want them , or you can only give so many away ..........it's been so long since I kept any .

another option would be to put him up for sale on aquabid, depending on his condition I have seen cons go for alot more than what its worth. IE, I have seen cons go for upwards of 30 dollars for just one fish!!!!
