Hi all,

I have one of my Platy's who is constantly hiding away under a rock from another Platy (always seems to be the same one that chases him).

There used to be just these two, and they got along fine, but ever since adding another 2 to the tank, one has quickly become a bully.

He ONLY bullies this one Platy, the others are fine...

Now, my question is - shall I move him to a small 20L tank for a week (the bully)?

I have a small filter in the big tank which has used media, and could take 20L out of the tank and put it in the small one straight away, aswell as a heater.

I'm concerned as I leave early tomorrow morning for a holiday for 5 days, and don't want to come back to a dead fish that has been stressed to hell.

Suggestions appreciated! :)

Is the other tank already cycled? Is it one of the newer ones which became a bully? are they opposite sex or not?

how are you going to feed 2 tanks for 5 days if you're not there?

Get a divider, separate the aggressive fish. Healthy adult fish can easily go for two weeks without being fed.

These answers didn't really help me :)

I have a small tank I can use for the aggressive fish rather than a divider, as well as a mature small filter that would do for one fish or more no problem.

Is it fine to separate the "Bully" fish for a week or so in a tank on his own, and if I do this then put him back, is the behaviour likely to stop?

If not, I may have to get rid of him as it's not fair on the other little guy.
