Does anyone know any reputable mail order plant stockists?

What are the pros and cons of these services?

Kind regards

Kieron

UK!!!

I've used Java Plants twice, both times the plants arrived in great condition and were well worth the price. But I found the delivery very slow.

I used Greenline Aquatics just the other week and think they're great! As I'm sure others here who have used them would agree. Very cheap, excellent delivery and out of the two I think I'd choose to use this company to use again.

yep greenline all the way. i've bought riccia fluitians, hairgrass and tiger lotus lillies. all arrived in perfect condition and are alive and well to this day. if you have any questions on your order the owner (andy) is very knowledgeable and happy to help. which is usefull when ordering from the net.

yep, I'm for Greenline too...in fact I placed an order this week for some bit's and pieces...should arrive tomorrow! If your not sure what your after, give Andy a call, he's really very helpful!

good luck!

I have been looking for hair grass and haven't managed to find it anywhere except for one shop where it was £5 a bunch but I want to cover most of the gravel with it so will need quite a lot. £5 is too expensive, how much do they charge per bunch?
If you buy a aquarium plant set up off them do they give you plenty of one type of species or just one bunch of each?
Also, what are there delivery times like?

Also, does anyone have greenlines number? It doesn't appear to be on the website.

Cheers

The plant sets are great value. I bought a 30" set and got masses od different types of plant. If you set up well, the majority of them will grow very quickly (depending upon species) and you will be able to split them in no time.

If you are ordering by individual plant, I'm not sure how he does it...BUT...if you give me a few minutes, I'll be able to tell you, I've just taken delivery of some Glosso!

I think delivery goes something like this, as lon as you order online by Tuesday OR by telephone Wednesday evening, the plants will arrive on Friday!

Hope this helps!

OK, I've opened the package and spent what seemed like forever getting the plants out...boy does Andy pack them well!!!!!!

I ordered:

3 x 5 Glosso
5 x Dwarf Sagittaria
3 x Micro Sagittaria
3 x Heteranthera Zosterfolia
3 x 5 Dwarf four leaf clover

My plan is to start 'carpetting' the front of the tank. As usual, you don't get enormous bunches of the plants (although the Heteranthera Zosterfolia were from the 'premium' collection and were much larger, potted plants), but enough to space them out and allow them to grow.

If you want to cover instantly, then order quite a few, I probably went a bit overboard, and may end up with surplus (yes I'll let you all know what ;) ) but I wasn't sure quite what would turn up!

Hope this helps,

ND
