so my madagascar rainbow, in my freshwater tank, has what i believe to be fin rot. Or the fringes of one of his pectoral fins is coloring white, but from online searching i dont think thats the case.

I thinking he will be ok if i acclimate him to the brackish tank thats at 1.003sg@ 77F, for 3 or 4 days to help cure what ails him no?

Brackish water rarely cures finrot. After all, marine fish can develop finrot.

I'd instead medicate appropriately, i.e., with something reliable as opposed to salt or melafix, and try to figure out why the rainbowfish are getting sick. Madagascan rainbows aren't brackish water fish, but slight salinity doesn't do them any harm. But what they do need is very clean, very well oxygenated water with a strong water current and middling temperature.

Cheers, Neale

oh really, #41#### ok to medication then.
Ya i keep my tank at around 75-76 degrees for him, hes in a community setting. But while oxygen levels seem pretty high and lots of plants, the water flow is quite low, i will try to increase and get some meds in the meantime. Ty neal, although #41####, didnt know fin rot was saline resistant, would have been a simple solution.
