Hello and thank you in advance,
Have been treating my swordtail for ich/whitespot for the past week with machalite green in my 10 gal qt tank. I recently had to go buy a new bottle as i ran out. I was unable to find the same brand i had been using, however the one i picked up had the same active ingredient as noted above. My question is on one bottle it said treat every 24 hours until symptoms dissapear. The new bottle (with the exact same amount of ingredients) says treat once every 2-3 days. I am under the impression i should treat for at least two weeks. I was just wondering if I should continue treatment everyday as stated on one bottle, or skip a day inbetween treatments??? Thank you for your time.

Go by the manufacture instructions.
Good luck.

Hey - I used King British Ws3 which is the green one. I also changed, stick with recommendations, but some do say use half dosage when treating loaches and scaleless fish.

Also beware that they also stain things in your tank and also kill some good bacteria too. I found my Nitrate, Nitrite levels spiked as my filters werent as effeicent.

Companies use the chemicals at different strengths so follow the correct measures, but malicate i believe is best used at 5-8ppm for ich.

yup as above different brands will have different stregths, if you have to change between brands then do a large water change (90%) or add some carbon to teh filter to remove all the medication, then start afresh following the manufacturers

otherwise the combination of concentrations could cause problems

Thank you all for your replies.
One thing i just need to point out is that both products had the same percaentage of the same chemical in them, which was why i was confused about the different directions. I did a large water change and i am just going to follow the instructions for the new bottle. He is getting much better throughout the week, but i think i am gonna treat him at least another week. Also, i had heard these can have an effect on the cycle, i will just have to stay on top of it. It has stained the water a little but its ok as i will be breaking down the tank to dissenfect anyway. Thank you all for your replys!
