do you guys think that leaving lunar lights on all night would effect the fish, or do you think it is dark enough for them to sleep through as well?

As far as I know, the best cycle is to have complete darkness for a few hours in the night. then have it brighten gradually just before your full lights come on.

Fish don't have eyelids, so it would probably be best if they had most of the night in total darkness. You can have the lunar lights be one for a few hours after the lights go out and before they come on, but I'd definitely give them some time with everything turned off.

Most, if not all, of our fish would prefer to not ever have the lights on. There is enough ambient light in the room for them during the day and our power compact lights are much brighter than they would ever be exposed to in the wild. As already mentioned, it is best to give them total darkness for a period of time.

(Sorry, couldn't help myself)

What sense does that make? You think the sun light is less intense than some of the lights we have over our aquariums? How come fish can live, and probably sleep in the same bodies of water that also contain plants that need a lot more light than bigdave probably has over his tank? If the sun is not very intense, how can photosynthetic corals grow? Think the fish don't catch some of that light?

You can keep moonlights on all of the time. Millions of people do it over their reef tanks all the time - and I do on all of my tanks, SW or FW. On the other hand, if you want to save on electricity, maybe it is good to have them on a timer so that they turn off when no one is watching the tank.
