I have just noticed that my golden molly looks almost furry, covered in tiny bumps thyat werent there before.

As of yet there are no other signs of infection, and i was going to treat for whitespot but it doesnt look like any other case of whitespot ive seen before.

The temp is at 26/27C already but i dont have a test kit at the moment and i dont have any aquarium salt etc.

Please can anyone advise me on what to do?
Please, i dont want to lose this one!

Any chance of some pictures? Its the best way of helping us to help you diagnose.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, here is a pic of the said molly, although she seems to have got a bit better after I put a treatment in for whitespot last night (on advice of fishkeeping boyfriends brother!).

He/she isn't furry as such anymore, and is still swimming happily hunting for food and he/she swims up to the glass whenever I walk past.

I didnt think it was ich because of his/her behaviour but I may be wrong.

is the fish being picked on by other fish. might be from nipping. Overall the fish looks healthy. I would do a large waterchange and then several small ones over the course of the week and see if there is improvement.
any other signs or symptoms such as flicking or rubbing against rocks/decor?
all the best
cheers

I don't think so, she actually seems to be alot better now, she always carried on feeding etc, and swimming properly, but these lumps really worried me :(

She never filcked, but she did swim through the plants alot, more than the others.

I have to dose once more for whitespot tomorrow, hopefully by then she'll be better.

It looks as if she has been attacked or caught on something of some sort. Do you have any sharp rocks or anything in your tank? Has the fish recently got stuck anywhere e.g. behind a filter?

Well no not really, I have rocks in my tank, but they are all smooth edges, and I have sand as a substrate.

The other fish dont seem to bully it, and the bumps were ALL over the fish, they looked like goosebumps.

She seems to be getting better with the whitespot treatment, and the big white spots on her tail are almost gone, but I don't want her to just belly up one day.
